Gilcomstoun Primary School

For the last five years Gilcomstoun School have developed the first aid skills of every pupil from P5 to 7.  We believe that the training provided not only allows us to fulfil the Curriculum for Excellence Health and Wellbeing outcomes, I am learning to assess and manage risk, to protect myself and others and to reduce the potential for harm when possible and I know and can demonstrate how to keep myself and others safe and how to respond in a range of emergency situations, we are giving the children important life skills that extend beyond the classroom.

The opportunity to actively practise  bandaging and perform CPR using the dummies is invaluable and these practical activities break through many barriers to learning our children might have.  These are skills that my teaching staff would not otherwise be able to offer as they are not sufficiently trained.

Grampian Training Services offer a programme of first aid that I am confident already has, and will continue to save lives in the future.
